MEMBERS WORKING MEETING

Jakarta (Indonesia), 26 April 2019 – The Sustainable Coffee Platform of Indonesia – SCOPI hosted a Members Working Meeting in Jakarta on the 26th of April 2019. This event is unlike past meetings organized by the platform, as it centered on focused discussions and dialogs among coffee actors to round up solutions and actions for sustainability. Among the faces contributing to the fruitful dialogs were Mrs. Musdhalifah Machmud, Deputy of Food and Agriculture – Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Mr. Bayu Krisnamurthi who is the Former Vice Minister of Agriculture as well as Former Vice Minister of Trade. Also present was Mr. Dwiyono Bayu Winantio, Division Head of BTPN Syariah and Mr. Abdul Aleem Habeeb Mohamed as Regional Head of South & Southeast Asia, ITFC.

There were four themes high on SCOPI’s priority of sustainable actions, (1) climate change and how it affects coffee industry and how the industry can play a role in mitigating the effect of climate related factors, (2) strengthening of farmer organization to enable our farmers to get the best out of coffee business, (3) intercropping and agroforestry for income diversification as well as a sustainable way to fit coffee income and environmental protection, (4) how private sectors play their role in sustainability and what makes sustainable action interesting for coffee brands.
