Collaborative Efforts to Enhance Robusta Coffee Quality: SCOPI, Lahat District Agriculture Office, Tokopedia, and ShopTokopedia

SCOPI, in collaboration with the Lahat District Agriculture Office, Tokopedia, and ShopTokopedia, has organized a Socialization and Training Workshop on Post-Harvest Coffee Management and Quality Improvement of Robusta Coffee Beans. The event took place on Monday (24/6) at Hungrypedia Lahat, South Sumatra, and was attended by the Head of the Lahat District Agriculture Office, SCOPI representatives, Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia representatives, Master Trainers (MT) from SCOPI Lahat District, and representatives from farmer groups (poktan) across Lahat District.

The socialization aimed to explain the upcoming training sessions on Post-Harvest Coffee Management and Quality Improvement of Coffee Beans for 1000 coffee farmers in Lahat District, scheduled for June-July 2024. The training on Post-Harvest Coffee Management was conducted by SCOPI's Master Trainers Destiawaty Kartika and M. Syahriza. Additionally, Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia teams provided education on effective online selling strategies through their platforms to coffee farmers.

Vivi Anggraini, S.STP., M.Si., the Head of Lahat District Agriculture Office, expressed appreciation for SCOPI's planned training activities with Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia. "We hope this initiative will enhance the skills of coffee farmers in Lahat District in processing high-quality coffee, thus improving their welfare," explained Vivi.

Hilmi Adrianto, Associate Vice President of Public Policy and Government Relations at Tokopedia, highlighted the importance of reaching upstream stakeholders in digitalization efforts, particularly in coffee, a key commodity performing well on Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia platforms. This partnership aims to foster economic growth in Indonesia's coffee industry through post-harvest training and quality improvement initiatives.

Ilham Bayu Widagdo from SCOPI emphasized the opportunity presented by the shift in consumer preference to Indonesian Robusta coffee amid shortages from Vietnam due to climate change impacts. "This momentum offers a chance to satisfy buyers switching to Indonesian Robusta, potentially increasing repeat orders," Ilham noted. He stressed the importance of maintaining quality standards for Robusta green beans post-harvest, a focus of SCOPI's training program supported by Lahat District Agriculture Office, Tokopedia, and ShopTokopedia as donors.
